With \u201cPolyphonies\u201d Barone Pizzini chose to engage emerging artists and focus on the intangible art form of sound. Best suited to interpret the fundamental principles of sustainability and environmental protection, this art form is in keeping with the values and philosophy of Barone Pizzini, the first winery to produce organic wines in Franciacorta The site-specific work produced for Polyphonies had to be unique and impossible to replicate elsewhere.
A piece created for the occasion that represents the culture of good practice and the authentic values of Barone Pizzini that have developed from the dialogue between winery and territory. From the outset it was necessary to identify and meet with artists motivated by ecological principles and the urgency of addressing ethical issues concerning the natural world, supported by a leading figure in the cultural-artistic field, in order to explore these arguments in the written form.<\/p>

Mantul\u00ec<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The piece was created by Enrico Ascoli and Hilario Isola, artists who have been working together for some time with a shared focus on sustainability in agricultural practices and landscape conservation. The title of this work is Mantul\u00ec , named after the morning breeze that flows through the valleys of Lake Iseo. The work is displayed in several areas around the winery, starting with the barrel cellar, where you can see a two-piece metal sculpture of crossed trumpets that point to the sky. Reminiscent of a coat of arms, they mimic the shape of sulphur dusters used in organic cultivation and at the same time, two giant beetles. It is not a normal sculpture, however; activated with a light touch on the bellows the air pushed through the pipes emits a sound, a deep hum similar to the chords of an organ. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

A Polyphonic Breeze<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The polyphonic breeze that resonates among the many bottles and barrels in the Barone Pizzini winery, first resonated among the leaves and grapes of the Pian delle Viti vineyard where Ascoli and Isola exhibited their sound sculptures for the first time. The artists staged a performance in July 2025 between the rows of grape vines, each wearing one of the devices, without an audience but under the watchful eye of a drone that recorded the event from above.
The video art work produced during the performance can be seen in the upper part of the winery, on the balcony overlooking the large steel tanks used for wine production.
To better understand the creative process that led the artists to create Mantul\u00ec , we can see the drawings, watercolours, and other materials used to design the sculpture on display at the end of the exhibition. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
